What a delightful surprise this life is—filled with everything all at once for each and every one of us. Somehow, experience is packaged in a unique way for each of us and delivered only when we least expect it—but its inescapability bonds us together when we share what is real. It’s just so good.

I can’t say I will miss the Year of the Snake, but I think I will forever connect with snake medicine, because snakes are indeterminate growers—meaning they grow until they die—and that is my priority in this life.

I welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, which signifies a rare, powerful time of dynamic energy, transformation, and bold action—amplifying the Horse’s natural independence with fiery passion, encouraging innovation, breaking limitations, and pursuing freedom and self-expression.

They say the name you are given is what you are meant to grow into in a lifetime. I never connected with the name Carly Jo. It always felt like such a ridiculous name (like a character from a Skinemax show!) until I learned that Carly means “Free Woman,” and Jo means “God is gracious” or “Sweetheart.” Suddenly, this feels very me. I’m ready to fully embody her.
