SYMBOLS AS LIVING MESSAGES

What is Mirror Journey Work

I call this practice The Mirror, because it is a method mining symbols from the unconscious that can reflect back to us who we are and who we are longing to become.

Carl Jung observed that the unconscious does not speak in linear language. It speaks in symbols. And because consciousness is limited, the psyche uses life itself as a delivery system. What we cannot yet see within, we encounter without.

When a symbol arrives in our life—an image, a person, a repeating theme, a dream, a crisis, a longing—it is not random.  A synchronicity is an outer event that mirrors an inner state. It is a message from the deeper self, reflected through the outer world.

But sometimes we miss these waking symbols. When we take the time to lay down and intentionally breathe, the symbols often appear in powerful and undeniable visions.

They may arrive as animals, images, archetypes, or patterns. They are invitations. A symbol is something we can work with.  A true symbol is alive—it carries energy, emotion, and transformation.

Symbols arrive when the psyche is ready to grow.

“We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.”

-James Hillman

Mirror Journey Work is an ever-evolving improvisational practice that weaves breath, sound, and the wisdom of the group into a living mirror, revealing who we are and how our gifts serve the greater fabric of existence.
